Journey's story
The rocking platform provides relief for Journey and his mom.
Journey is a vibrant child who lives with Cerebral Palsy. Gentle movement, like the kind you get from a swing, is comforting and essential. As he began to outgrow his swing, things became increasingly difficult at home. Without consistent motion, Journey would become distressed, and to keep him calm, his mom had to rock or bounce him throughout the day and night. The physical and emotional toll was enormous. She was exhausted, sleep-deprived, and overwhelmed, with almost no time to rest or care for herself.
Recognizing this, Journey’s Occupational Therapist, Pat, reached out to CanAssist. Journey had recently received a P-Pod seating system, and Pat asked whether we could design a motorized platform to gently rock it, something that didn’t exist anywhere else.
Our team delivered a custom-built motorized rocking platform that supports the P-Pod and replicates the soothing motion Journey needs.
