Charles's story

Charles thought he would never be able to play music again until he tried our pedal-assisted guitar strummer.

For Charles, music has always been a meaningful part of his life. It was a way to connect, express himself, and share moments with the people he loves. After a stroke affected his right arm and left him unable to strum his guitar, something he had enjoyed for years was suddenly out of reach.

For a long time, Charles was unable to pick up his guitar and play the songs that meant so much to him. CanAssist worked with Charles to create a customized Guitar Strummer that allowed him to control the strumming motion using his foot, giving him a new way to reconnect with music.

Today, Charles looks forward to playing the songs he loves. His wife, Judy, shared a special moment when Charles played at a family gathering and everyone sang along:

For Charles, being able to make music again has been an experience he never expected.

Music has always been a big part of my life, but after a stroke in 2003 affected my strumming arm, I was no longer able to play guitar. After more than 20 years away from something I loved, the Guitar Strummer has brought music back into my life. I now look forward to playing every day and sharing music with my family and friends. I’m incredibly grateful to CanAssist for helping me reconnect with something that brings me so much joy and improving my quality of life.— Charles
