Pronous: They/Them

Email: hlbrown@uvic.ca

Hannah has a passion for inclusion and accessibility, specifically how we can improve access universally for all folks. They have experience as an educator in higher education, job coach, learning strategist, and a tutor. They have a Master degree and academic background in anthropology and biology, having also completed a Learning and Teaching in Higher Education graduate certificate. They exist as a multiply disabled, neurodivergent, queer, and a non-binary (trans+) person, and bring these intersectional marginalised identities to all the work that they do. Hannah has some unique hobbies including SCUBA diving, cross stitching, jigsaw puzzles, and Artistic (formally known as Synchronised) Swimming. They like to spend their time sharing their knowledge of disability justice, and making sure people know that disabled is not a bad word.

I am originally from the UK, now living and working on unseeded land of the lək̓ʷəŋən People (Esquimalt and Songhees Nations). I am grateful to be an uninvited guest on these lands, and often reflect on the colonial harms of my ancestors and the privilege I gain from this. I aim to center decolonization and indigenous self-determination in all the work I do, and commit to this as an ongoing learning journey.
