Samar is a Youth Employment Readiness Specialist at CanAssist, where she supports the evaluation and ongoing improvement of CanWork BC, a self-paced employment-readiness course designed to empower youth with disabilities in their transition to adulthood.

Samar’s work in education began as an Advising Assistant at Thompson Rivers University, where she discovered a passion for supporting learners. In a previous role at CanAssist, she contributed to the development of CanWork BC as an instructional designer.

In addition to her professional work, Samar volunteers as a learning designer with the Rumie Initiative, contributing to the creation of free, accessible digital learning resources for underserved communities. She holds a Master’s degree in Tourism Management from Bournemouth University and values unlearning, lifelong learning, and making education accessible to all.

Outside of work, Samar enjoys swimming, baking, reading, and traveling to new destinations. She speaks both Farsi and English and brings curiosity, creativity, and care to everything she does.

We acknowledge and respect the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples on whose traditional territory the university stands, and the Songhees, Esquimalt, and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples, whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.
