Paul is a problem-solver at heart and brings a pragmatic approach to his work in solutions engineering and his work as a whole in supporting CanAssist’s operations. His professional background is rooted in electronics design and product management. He is committed to the creation of innovative assistive technologies designed to empower individuals across the age and ability spectrum to achieve their goals through self-actualization.
With 15 years of experience in this sector, Paul has been a key contributor to the development and oversight of assistive technology solutions, encompassing mechanical, electrical, and software components. His work is motivated by the potential of these technologies to empower individuals to achieve their fullest potential in professional and personal contexts.
Paul is committed to user-centered design as a core principle for all of CanAssist’s assistive technology development, while also creating meaningful and experiential learning opportunities for students. An avid cyclist, Paul loves to explore and exercise on two wheels whenever he can. He grew up on the Saanich Peninsula and is now raising his two children there with his wife.
I live and work as a settler on the unceded territories of the W̱JOȽEȽP (Tsartlip) and SȾÁUTW̱ (Tsawout) First Nations. I'm grateful for the generations of stewardship that have shaped these lands and for the ongoing presence and leadership of these communities. I am committed to challenging the structures that perpetuate historical and ongoing injustices. This commitment to reconciliation is both a professional and personal responsibility.
