Lindsay Brooks is the Director of Operations and Employment at CanAssist, a University of Victoria entity creating innovative, inclusive solutions for people with disabilities. With over 20 years’ experience in the non-profit sector, she has led programs that expand access to employment and education, held senior leadership roles at the Victoria Brain Injury Society and the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul of Vancouver Island, and contributed her expertise to the Red Cross’ National Diversity and Inclusion Task Force, Thrive Social Services, and the West Coast REACH! Association.
An autistic leader, Lindsay draws on lived experience alongside professional expertise to advance equity, accessibility, and inclusion. Currently completing her Doctorate in Education in Equity, Diversity, and Social Justice at Western University, she is known for her collaborative leadership, proactive accessibility work, and intersectional approach to policy and program design.
Outside of work, Lindsay enjoys exploring Vancouver Island, discovering great food, and woodworking.
A member of Alderville First Nation and of settler-colonial ancestry, Lindsay was raised in the Treaty 7 region on the territories of the Tsuut’ina Nation and has lived since 2014 on the traditional territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən Peoples (Songhees and Esquimalt Nations) and the W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples. She recognizes the responsibility of working toward reconciliation through reflection, action, and accountability.
