Hannah is a job coach with CanAssist, working with folks with disabilities to support them in finding meaningful employment. They have a strong passion for inclusion and accessibility, specifically how we can improve access universally for all folks.
Hannah has a range of experience including as an educator within higher education, job coach, learning strategist, and a tutor. They bring their experience supporting disabled people and advocating for accessibility to CanAssist. Hannah also brings personal experience as a multiply disabled, neurodivergent, queer, and a non-binary (trans+) person. They bring these intersectional marginalized identities and perspectives to all the work that they do.
Hannah has completed a Master degree in the UK and studied their Bachelors degree at the University of Cambridge. They have a diverse academic background including in anthropology, sociology, and biology and have also completed a Learning and Teaching in Higher Education graduate certificate at the University of Victoria. Hannah is also working towards completing their PhD and continue to expand their knowledge of accessibility related issues.
Hannah has some unique hobbies in their spare time, including SCUBA diving, cross stitching, jigsaw puzzles, and Artistic (formally known as Synchronised) Swimming. They also like to spend their time sharing their knowledge of disability justice with others, and making sure people know that disabled is not a bad word.
Hannah was born in the UK, now living and working on unseeded land of the lək̓ʷəŋən People (Xʷsepsəm/Esquimalt and Songhees Nations). They are grateful to be an uninvited guest on these lands, often reflecting on the colonial harms of their ancestors and the privilege they gain from this. They aim to center decolonization and indigenous self-determination in all the work they do, and commit to this as an ongoing learning journey.
