Fatoumata Bouare is the Coordinator of the Pathways employment program, where she manages daily operations supporting people with learning disabilities. She’s passionate about equity, representation, and culturally responsive practices, and through her leadership and storytelling, she creates spaces that truly honor and uplift voices that are often underrepresented.

With over a decade of experience in social services, Fatoumata has supported children, youth, and families through program coordination, outreach, and advocacy. Her career journey includes working across child protection, youth services, and nonprofit settings, where she has led teams, built community partnerships, and supported vulnerable populations. She brings a trauma-informed lens and a people-centered focus to every project she takes on.

Fatoumata holds a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care with a specialization in Child Protection. Fluent in both French and English, she combines her bilingual and bicultural background with strong skills in program development, team collaboration, and community engagement. Her approach is rooted in empathy, inclusion, and integrity, centering the voices and needs of the communities she serves.

Outside of work, Fatoumata enjoys traveling, discovering new restaurants, learning about different cultures, and writing children’s stories that reflect diverse voices and experiences. She values time with her family and is a proud mother of two young girls, who inspire her every day. Her girls are her greatest motivation and a reminder of the importance of building inclusive spaces where every child feels seen and valued.

I want to acknowledge that I live and work on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples, the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations. I’m thankful to be here and committed to learning more, supporting Indigenous communities, and doing my part toward reconciliation.
