Abby Inglis is the Special Projects Assistant at CanAssist, where she supports the Special Projects Team to build and promote inclusive childcare and educational practices across the province. She is passionate about promoting inclusive, equitable, and socially-just spaces where all children feel like they belong. She is coming to CanAssist as a practicum student in the fourth year of her degree at the University of Victoria in the Child and Youth Care program.
She holds a certificate in educational assistance and community support work, and a diploma in community, family, and child studies through Camosun College. She has done various practicums in early-childhood care, elementary education, youth-work, and within the community.
In her free time, Abby loves to be outside in nature kayaking, hiking, or camping. She also loves to spend time volunteering in the community, and spending time with friends and family.
She appreciates the ability to live, play, and work on the unceded and traditional territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees and Xʷsepsəm/Esquimalt) and the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples who have been caretakers of these lands since time immemorial. She is committed to learning from Indigenous led initiatives and takes responsibility and action to participate in acts of truth and reconciliation.
