Employment Facilitator

Purpose of the role
The Employment Facilitator supports individuals participating in CanAssist programs by providing person-centered, strength-based facilitation across their journey. This role ensures participants experience continuity, respect, and practical support as they build skills, explore career pathways, and transition into inclusive work educational environments.
Working closely with program teams, employers, and partners, the Employment Facilitator delivers workshops, facilitates job placements, and provides individualized coaching grounded in accessibility, dignity, and empowerment. This role is focused 100% on direct participant support within employment programs.
Key logistical information
Contract type: Up to 12-month term
Location: Victoria, BC & hybrid
Deadline: July 15th, 2026 (Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis)
Salary range (1 FTE): $51,000 – $60,000 CAD
What does the Employment Facilitator do?
Participant Support & Coaching
- Provide ongoing, person-centered coaching to participants throughout all stages of the program.
- Support participants with resume development, interview preparation, workplace communication, and accommodation requests.
- Build trusting relationships through compassionate listening, encouragement, and consistent follow-up.
- Support participant transitions into and between employment opportunities.
Workshops & career development
- Co-develop, refine, and deliver career development and employment readiness workshops for individuals and groups.
- Facilitate sessions in both in-person and virtual formats, adapting content to diverse learning needs.
- Apply inclusive facilitation practices that support confidence, skill-building, and self-advocacy.
Job placement & on-the-job support
- Assist participants in identifying employment goals aligned with their interests and strengths.
- Support job placement activities, including employer coordination and on-site or virtual job coaching.
- Provide practical, individualized support during work experiences to support onboarding and ongoing workplace participation.
Accessibility & inclusive practice
- Review physical, digital, and socio-cultural environments and practices to identify and address barriers to accessibility and inclusion.
- Support the use of assistive technology and tools in collaboration with assistive technology staff.
- Advocate for participant needs while supporting autonomy and informed choice.
Employer engagement (collaborative)
- Contribute to employer relationships through communication, feedback, and on-site support.
- Share insights from participant experiences to inform employer practices and curriculum development.
- Support consistent, inclusive messaging in collaboration with employer engagement staff.
Administration & documentation
- Maintain accurate participant records, case notes, and data in accordance with privacy and accountability standards.
- Track participation, progress, and outcomes to support reporting and program evaluation.
- Maintain regular communication with participants and program staff to ensure continuity of care.
Decision-making & judgment
- Apply established policies, accessibility standards, and confidentiality practices consistently.
- Use sound judgment to respond to participant needs and workplace challenges.
- Escalate complex, urgent, or sensitive situations appropriately.

Education & Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child and Youth Care, Education, Disability Studies, Social Sciences, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of two years’ experience supporting individuals with disabilities or in employment support roles.
- Experience facilitating workshops or group sessions.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in both in-person and virtual settings.
Assets
- Experience in community engagement or employer collaboration.
- Experience developing or adapting training materials.
- Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning, trauma-informed practice, and peer support.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as required.
